CTV Interview: Tim Hortons, Molson Coors and Saks – Corporate Missteps or Astute Planning?

CTV’s Amanda Blitz and Blueprint partner and co-author of Why Should I Choose You? Ian Chamandy sit down on Sunday, June 7, to analyze the recent Tim Hortons-Enbridge story.

After pulling Enbridge ads from their internal TV network in response to public outcry, Tim Hortons unexpectedly received backlash from those that support Enbridge and the Canadian energy industry at large. Blueprint believes that Tim Hortons was bound to disappoint one group or the other with their actions, but that the beloved Canadian coffee chain will not suffer any long term effects to its reputation.

Ian and Amanda also discuss Molson Coors’ move to introduce craft brews into their product offering and the announcement that American retailer Saks Fifth Avenue will be bringing their discount outlet, Saks Off 5th, into the already-saturated Canadian retail market. Blueprint discusses whether these movements will spell success for these corporations or signal the arrival of another retail bloodbath.
